WHAT TO WEAR

Button downs, polo shirts, and t-shirts usually look great on everyone, but not everyone has to wear the same type of shirt.  Coordinating shades of blue, for example, are always perfect for beach portraits. Stonewashed denim or Chambray also works well. Khaki and earthy tones play off sand, trees, and other outdoor scenery. White is always crisp and clean.

To wear print or not to wear print…that is the question!  Prints can be beautiful, especially if only one family member is wearing the print and others are basing the colors off that print.  It can also work if there are matching prints. For example, two little sisters or maybe mommy and daughter.  Too much though, can be off-putting.

Children can usually get away with much more, but please make sure they still coordinate with the adults and avoid the large logos.  If your son wants to wear those cowboy boots with his shorts and nothing else will do, compromise.  We will take a few with him in those and then some without. Bring hats (male and female), momma’s or grandma’s longer pearls, and daddy’s ties…they make beautiful props and the little ones love them.

Seniors will want 2 or 3 outfits.  I would recommend at least one casual and one dressier outfit. If he/she has a Letterman jacket and/or a uniform, bring it.  If he/she is a budding writer, bring a pencil and a tablet as a prop. If he/she is also a photographer, have him/her bring that camera as a prop.  This session is for your young person and should highlight who he/she is.
